statement of intent

I intend to produce a horror film trailer that is approximately 90 seconds long. For the trailer I intent to use horror movie conventions such as suspenseful music, low key lighting and fast paced editing. The element of repetition (Neale) will enable my production to be recognized as horror; I will include equilibrium and disequilibrium (Todrov) however my trailer will end on a cliff hanger, so the audience is motivated in order to identify the new equilibrium. The trailer will hint at the narrative which involves, a group of teenagers who are currently in high school and one of them experiences supernatural presences after reading a book- I will be using a copy of hunger games book which I will damage to add to the horror effects. I will avoid giving away too much information in my trailer as that would cancel out any enigma codes.    The camerawork is crucial for my type of production as it will not only convey the genre but also my narrative to an extent. 1) What is the history and narrative behind War of the Worlds? The War of the Worlds radio play (1938) is adapted from the original War of the Worlds novel by H.G Wells (published in 1898). It is about  an alien invasion and the ensuing  conflict  between mankind and an extraterrestrial  race from Mars. The text has been  frequently interpreted as a commentary on  British Imperialism and Victorian fear and  prejudice.
